Matthew Knoester is a professor and chair of the Educational Studies Department at Ripon College. He received his PhD in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is a former National Board–certified teacher, teaching primarily in the Boston Public Schools. His research analyzes teaching practices and focuses on literacy development, family engagement, education for democratic citizenship, equity and anti-racism, bilingualism, and authentic assessments. Three of his books have received the Critics’ Choice Book Award from the American Educational Studies Association.
