Matthew Knoester

Matthew Knoester

Matthew Knoester is a National Board Certified Teacher and former teacher of 9- to 11-year-olds at Mission Hill School. He received his EdM from Harvard University and a PhD in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and is currently an assistant professor of education at the University of Evansville. He has written many articles focusing on literacy, social studies, and social contexts in education and is the author or editor of two previous books: Democratic Education in Practice: Inside the Mission Hill School (Teachers College Press, 2012) and International Struggles for Critical Democratic Education (Peter Lang, 2012), a recipient of the Critics’ Choice Book Award from the American Educational Studies Association.
