Judith A. Langer

Judith A. Langer, an internationally known scholar in literacy learning, is Vincent O’Leary Distinguished Professor at the University at Albany, State University of New York. She is founder of the Albany Institute for Research in Education and director of the Center on English Learning and Achievement. Her most recent book, Envisioning Knowledge: Gaining Literacy in the Academic Disciplines, received the David H. Russell Award for Distinguished Research in the Teaching of English. Langer has received several other notable awards including: Honorary Doctorate from the University of Uppsala, Sweden; Imaginative Scientists award from Lund University, Sweden; induction into the Reading Hall of Fame; and the Albert J. Harris award for research on teaching students with reading difficulties.
