Shea N. Kerkhoff is an assistant professor of secondary education at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. She holds a Ph.D. from North Carolina State University in Literacy and English Language Arts. She taught high school English for seven years, including North Carolina and District of Columbia public schools, and currently serves as assistant editor of English Education, a National Council of Teachers of English journal. She also serves as Going Global, Inc.’s Education Director. Dr. Kerkhoff is passionate about literacy education at home and abroad. In 2018 she was named a Longview Foundation Global Teacher Educator fellow. Her work focuses on critical, digital, and global literacies; disciplinary literacy; and teacher education. Uniting these three foci is an inquiry stance for teaching and learning.
