Sarah Bickens

Peer Collaborative Teacher Leader, Talent Unlimited High School

Sarah Bickens graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Comparative Literature from Brown University. She earned her initial teaching license through an alternative certification program partnership between City on a Hill Charter School and Northeastern University in Boston. After moving to New York City, she taught 9th–12th grade English at Manhattan Village Academy, a small, public, Department of Education high school, for thirteen years while earning a Master’s Degree in English Education from Hunter College (CUNY). She has since moved to another small, public NYC high school with a performing arts focus, Talent Unlimited High School, where she teaches 12th grade ELA and AP English Literature and serves as the school’s Peer Collaborative Teacher Leader, mentoring novice teachers and supporting teacher professional learning. She recently earned her School Based Leadership certificate through the College of Saint Rose. This year marks her twentieth year as an educator.
