Ronnie Casella is an assistant professor of secondary education and educational foundations at Central Connecticut State University. He has taught high school in Colombia, South America, and college-level courses at a number of urban universities. He is the author of At Zero Tolerance: Punishment, Prevention, and School Violence, as well as articles that have appeared in Urban Education, Anthropology and Education Quarterly, Educational Theory, and numerous other journals. His research for this book was undertaken while he was a research associate for the Violence Prevention Project at Syracuse University and for the Hamilton Fish National Institute on School and Community Violence at George Washington University. His current research involves a case study of a city high school social worker and the structuring of schooling for students determined to be socially and emotionally disturbed (SED).
