Regina Umpstead (J.D., University of Michigan; Ph.D., Michigan State University) began her career as an assistant attorney general in Michigan. She then discovered her passion for education and, after earning her Ph.D. in education policy, joined the Educational Leadership faculty at Central Michigan University, where she is currently an associate professor. Dr. Umpstead’s research interests explore the law and policy dimensions of special education, teacher ethics and evaluation, and charter schools. She has written numerous scholarly articles and the book Professional Responsibility for Educators and the Michigan Code of Ethics (2010).
