Philip J. Piety is a national expert in educational data. His expertise draws from professional experience in organizational information technology and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan titled: Learning Sciences: Materials, Measurement, and Information Architecture. His path to being an author is nontraditional. He left high school early to begin working in the information technology revolution that he writes about in this book. After rising through positions of responsibility with multinational software firms, he returned to school and completed all of his degrees as an adult. He now specializes in adapting organizational technology into the complex and varied domain of educational practice, which he also observes as the parent of two elementary school children.
