Michael Usdan is currently a senior fellow at the Institute for Educational Leadership in Washington, D.C., after serving as the organization’s president for 20 years. He formerly was Connecticut’s Commissioner of Higher Education and president of the Merrill Palmer Institute in Detroit, and has taught in a number of universities and public schools. He was a member and president of the school board in New Rochelle, New York. He is the author of numerous articles and books on the politics of education and related topics.
