MICHAEL NEAL is an assistant professor in the English department at Florida State University, where he explores intersections between composition, writing assessments, multimodal literacies, and technologies in his research and teaching. He received his PhD from the University of Louisville, his MA from Ball State University, and a BA in English from Taylor University. Neal has taught undergraduate courses in 1st-year composition, technical writing, advanced article and essay writing, and visual rhetoric; he also has taught graduate courses in composition theory, research methods, visual rhetoric, and teacher preparation courses. Neal has directed 1st-year composition, served as an ePortfolio faculty fellow, and delivered workshops and consultations on writing across the curriculum and electronic portfolio initiatives.
