Megan Hopkins is an assistant professor of literacy, language, and culture in the Department of Curriculum at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her work explores the relationships between policy and practice in the context of district reform and/or demographic change, and her current research examines language-policy planning in new immigrant destinations and the role of community actors in bilingual education reform. Her last coedited book, Forbidden Language: English Learners and Restrictive Language Policies, was published by Teachers College Press.
