Mary Moss Brown was the founding co-principal of the NYC iSchool. Previously, Dr. Moss Brown was a teacher of young adolescents for 7 years before becoming principal of Mott Hall II, a progressive early one-to-one laptop middle school in New York City. She served as an adjunct professor for teacher education programs, mentored aspiring principals, and coaches principals and aspiring leaders for districts in NYC and North Carolina, and for New Leaders. Dr. Moss Brown graduated from Bates College and then earned her master’s degree at Harvard Graduate School of Education in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy. She received her doctorate from Teachers College Columbia University, with a focus on public school leadership and adolescent education. Dr. Moss Brown currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is a partner in Novare Schools (www.novareschools.org), a consulting group that focuses on school leader coaching and development, school design, innovation, and transformation.
