Marie L. Masterson

Man­ag­er, ECE Competence and Practice, Council for Professional Recognition

Marie L. Masterson is man­ag­er of ECE Competence and Practice for the Council for Professional Recognition. She holds a doctorate in early childhood education from Old Dominion University, is a licensed teacher, and is a national speaker and award-­winning author of many books and articles that address research-­based, practical skills for high-­quality teaching, be­hav­ior guidance, quality improvement, and leadership. Dr. Masterson is a former higher education faculty teacher trainer, director of quality assessment for Illinois ExceleRate, and early childhood specialist for the ­Virginia Department of Education. A former Fulbright specialist, Dr. Masterson brings a wealth of experience in early childhood cross-­cultural learning and a background in ­music and the creative arts to her perspectives about the capabilities of ­children and the essential role of families and teachers in nurturing relationships of security and resilience.
