Marc Nachowitz is an assistant professor of Teacher Education at Miami University (Ohio) where he teaches courses in content-area literacy, secondary ELA methods, and foundations of literacy and language. Nachowitz’s research focuses on the development of effective teaching and learning strategies for improving students’ deep understanding of literature and improving literacy strategies for content-area learning. He earned a B.S. and M.A. in English Education from the University of Connecticut and taught high school English in suburban and urban settings. He completed his doctoral studies in Curriculum and Instruction at the University at Albany, State University of New York, and was a recipient of the State Farm Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Award.
