Maggie Struck, MA, is a PhD candidate in literacy in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Minnesota. She brings a history of community activism, youth work, and public elementary school teaching to her current academic work. Influenced by her dedication to both educational equity and building bridges between young people’s literacy practices in community-based organizations and their literacy practices in school settings, her research focuses on young people’s literacy practices in participatory learning cultures across these settings. She is interested in understanding how learning can enhance the social and academic futures of in public school settings.
