Lynnette Mawhinney, PhD, is associate professor and chair of the Department of Urban Education at Rutgers University-Newark. Her research focuses on the lives and experiences of teachers and students of color. She is the author or editor of five books, including the award-winning Teacher Education Across Minority-Serving Institutions: Programs, Policies, and Social Justice, which won the 2018 American Educational Research Association’s Division K award for Exemplary Research in Teaching and Teacher Education. Her teaching experiences have extended to three continents and shape her world-view on research through the lens of race, class, gender, and religion.
