Lawrence Escalada, PhD, is a professor of physics and science education and chair of science education at the University of Northern Iowa. He has taught high school physics and now teaches university introductory physics and physical science courses (including those for elementary teaching majors) as well as secondary science methods courses. His research involves developing curricula including PRISMS PLUS and facilitating professional development for pre-K–12 teachers in addition to providing outreach opportunities for K–12 students. He collaborated with the coauthors and others in the development of R&P and helped facilitate related professional development for teachers.
