Kathryn H. Au, Chief Executive Officer of School-Rise, was the first person at the University of Hawaii to hold an endowed chair in education. She is best known for her research on culturally responsive teaching. Her work has appeared in about 100 publications, including her latest book, Literacy Achievement and Diversity (2011). Kathy has served as president of the International Reading Association and of the Literacy Research Association, as well as vice president of the American Educational Research Association. She has won numerous awards, including being elected to the Reading Hall of Fame.
