Karen Koellner is a professor of mathematics education at Hunter College, City University of New York. She received her BS in liberal studies from the University of Southern California, her MA in curriculum and instruction from California State University, Los Angeles, and her PhD in mathematics education from Arizona State University. Dr. Koellner was a middle school mathematics teacher for 8 years and continues to actively work in schools conducting research and professional development with inservice and preservice teachers. Dr. Koellner’s research focuses on mathematics teacher professional development, students’ mathematical thinking, and field-based experiences for preservice teachers in urban contexts.
