Jonas F. Soltis

Jonas F. Soltis is William Heard Kilpatrick Professor of Philosophy and Education Emeritus at Teachers College, Columbia University and is past president of both the John Dewey Society and the Philosophy of Education Society. He was an early pioneer in the development of professional ethics case studies for educators, and is coauthor of The Ethics of Teaching as well as The Ethics of School Administration. He served as editor of the Teachers College Record and as lead editor of the NSSE Yearbook, Philosophy and Education. He also served as a seminar leader for the Christian A. Johnson Foundation’s Educational Leadership Program. Currently he is the series editor of Teachers College Press’s Advances in Contemporary Educational Thought Series, and also serves as series editor and coauthor of the Thinking About Education Series, a collection of five foundations texts for pre- and in-service teachers which focus on case studies in teaching, learning, curriculum, ethics, and school and society.
