Jennifer B. Ayscue is an American Educational Research Association Congressional Fellow in the United States Senate. Previously, Dr. Ayscue was research director of the Initiative for School Integration at the Civil Rights Project/Proyecto Derechos Civiles at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research interests focus on desegregation in K–12 schools and the role of policy in shaping students’ access to diverse and equitable educational opportunities. Dr. Ayscue’s work has explored expanding access, equity, and diversity in magnet schools; suburban school responses to increasing racial diversity; school segregation trends in the Eastern states; and segregation in charter schools. Her research has been published in Educational Policy, Peabody Journal of Education, and Phi Delta Kappan. Prior to earning a PhD in education from the University of California, Los Angeles, she taught elementary school in East Palo Alto, California, and in Charlotte, North Carolina.
