Janette Klingner

Janette Klingner is a professor at the University of Colorado, Boulder. She was a bilingual special education teacher for 10 years before earning her PhD in reading and learning disabilities from the University of Miami. She is a co-principal investigator for The National Center for Culturally Responsive Educational Systems and an investigator for the Center on Personnel Studies in Special Education. Her research interests include disproportionate representation and reading comprehension strategy instruction for diverse populations. She is the chairperson of AERA’s Special Education Research SIG, a co-editor of AERA’s Review of Educational Research, and an incoming Associate Editor for the Journal of Learning Disabilities. In 2004 she won AERA’s Early Career Award.
