Jane F. Schielack

Jane F. Schielack is a Professor in the Mathematics Department and Associate Dean for Assessment and Pre-K–12 Education in the College of Science at Texas A&M University. A member of the Texas A&M faculty since 1982, Schielack received both her BS and PhD degrees (1975, 1988) in mathematics education from Texas A&M University. She earned an MA in mathematics education from the University of Texas in 1980. In 2006, she led a National Council of Teachers of Mathematics writing team that developed focal points designed to guide curricula to better prepare U.S. elementary and middle school students for high school and eventual careers in science and engineering. She served as the Director of the NSF-funded Information Technology in Science (ITS) Center for Teaching and Learning. Her research interests include mathematics curriculum development and the uses of multiple representations, including those created with technology, to learn mathematics in grades K–8.
