The Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale® (ECERS) is a widely used, research-based assessment tool that evaluates the overall quality of Pre-K and K classrooms, and provides a framework for continuous quality improvement.
In this webinar for QRIS personnel, coaches, child care center directors and administrators, head teachers, trainers, mentors, and early childhood teacher educators and students, Holly Seplocha will show how coaches and teachers can use ECERS-3 and/or ECERS-R to work together to implement what is best for children. Her book, Coaching with ECERS: Strategies and Tools to Improve Quality in Pre-K and K Classrooms (Teachers College Press, 2018), offers best practices to help coaches build trusting relationships to improve classroom environments and teaching practices.
Whether peer coaching or coaching as the director/administrator, coordinator, or outside specialist, attendees will learn how using ECERS as a coaching tool can help a program make changes and improvements that will last well beyond the observation day.
Holly Seplocha is Professor Emerita of early childhood education at William Paterson University and an Early Childhood consultant. She has conducted countless ECERS classroom observations and worked with hundreds of coaches nationally as well as internationally.
