Gay Ivey is the William E. Moran Distinguished Professor in Literacy at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She studies the contexts that support reading engagement among children and young adults and the positive consequences of that engagement for their literacy and lives. She has published many scholarly books and articles. She is a past president of the Literacy Research Association, recipient of the P. David Pearson Scholarly Influence Award, and a member of the Reading Hall of Fame.
