Felicia Darling is a first-generation college student who has taught math and education courses for 30 years at both the secondary and college levels. She possesses a PhD in Math Education from Stanford University and is a Fulbright Scholar for her research in Yucatec Maya classrooms. Her work focuses on students who are underrepresented among those with 4-year degrees—especially students of color, students with disabilities, and first-generation college, LGBTQ+, and bilingual students. Her Teachin’ It! instructional model illuminates the assets of students in the classroom. Currently, Felicia is a mathematics instructor in the College Skills Department at Santa Rosa Junior College.
