Edith S. Gummer is the Education Research and Policy director for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation where she oversees the development and implementation of the initiatives that focus on strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship in education. Prior to joining the Kauffman Foundation, Gummer was a program officer in the Division of Research and Learning in the Directorate of Education and Human Resources at the National Science Foundation. In that capacity, she was a program officer for the Discovery Research K–12 program that provided funding for the development, testing, and implementation of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics resources, models, and tools in preK–12 educational settings. Dr. Gummer’s research has appeared in numerous journals including Educational Researcher, Teachers College Record, Journal of Research in Science Teaching, and Journal of Engineering Education. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Purdue University.
