Deven Carlson is assistant professor of political science at the University of Oklahoma. Deven earned his PhD in the Department of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2012, where he was a graduate research fellow at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research and a graduate affiliate of the Institute for Research on Poverty. His research interests include the relationship between individuals’ educational experiences and their later life participation in the political process, the operations and effects of education policies—particularly school choice policies, public policy, and research design and causal inference. His work has been published in journals such as Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, the Journal of Urban Economics, the Economics of Education Review, and Educational Policy.
