Cheryl R. Ellerbrock is an assistant professor of middle grades/general education in the Secondary Education Department at the University of South Florida. She teaches a variety of courses, including Teaching the Adolescent Learner, Teaching the Young Adolescent Learner, Classroom Management for a Diverse School and Society, Middle Level Education, Middle School Trends and Issues, Care and Personalization in Secondary Education, and Collegiate Teaching in Secondary Education. In 2011, she received USF’s Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher of the Year award. Her research specializes in supporting the developmental needs of young adolescent learners, including exploring how secondary school environments support their needs, investigating ways to foster a responsive middle-to-high-school transition, and developing responsive secondary educators. She has recently published in scholarly journals such as Middle Grades Research Journal, the Journal of Educational Research, Middle School Journal, and Urban Education.
