Charles W. Peters is a former professor of educational practice at the University of Michigan. He coordinated and taught in the Secondary Master’s of Arts and Certification Program (MAC). Before coming to the University of Michigan, he was a secondary content literacy consultant for Oakland Schools, a regional educational support agency in Michigan. His scholarly focus is on secondary literacy and assessment. Dr. Peters has edited two books, written numerous chapters for other books, and published many articles in such periodicals as the Reading Research Quarterly, The Educational Psychologist, Educational Leadership, Language Arts, The Journal of Reading, and The Reading Teacher. He has also served on numerous state and national committees and been a consultant on many national and state projects. Some of these include various state curricular framework and assessment committees, a variety of committees for the National Assessment of Educational Progress, The College Board, National Assessment Governing Board, New Standards Project, Achieve, the American Institutes for Research, and the Council of Chief State School Officers.
