Brian Drayton, an ecologist and science educator, is co-director of TERC’s Center for School Reform. Since 1986, he has developed curriculum for high school general science (Astrobiology [2005]) and ecology (Ecology: A Systems Approach [1997] and Biocomplexity and the Habitable Planet [under development]). In addition to curriculum development, his concern for inquiry in science education has led to classroom research on science teaching and professional development for elementary, middle, and high school teachers. In parallel with these strands of work, he has been involved in the development, facilitation, and research on electronic communities for teachers (LabNet), students (The Global Laboratory, Eyes to the Future), and for systemic reform in science education. He has collaborated with Joni Falk on LSCnet, MSPnet, and the Virtual Conferences on Sustainability, as well as on many of his other projects.
