Jay McTighe is an accomplished author, having coauthored 17 books, including the award-winning and best-selling Understanding by Design series with Grant Wiggins. His books have been translated into 14 languages. Jay has also written more than 50 book chapters, articles, and blogs, and has been published in leading journals, including Educational Leadership (ASCD) and Education Week. Jay has an extensive background in professional development and is a regular speaker at state, national, and international conferences and workshops.
 

Steve Ferrara is a professional psychometrician who works for Cognia. He has worked on more than 20 state accountability testing programs for grade-level students, students with significant cognitive disabilities, and English learners, and on interim and formative assessment products. As state director of student assessment in Maryland (1985–1997), he worked extensively with classroom teachers, principals, and curriculum directors on state and classroom assessment practices. Steve has published over 50 professional journal articles and book chapters and has written more than 200 conference papers and presentations. He started his career as a high school special education teacher after spending a year as a Head Start teacher.
