Beth Dykstra Van Meeteren

Beth Van Meeteren, EdD, is director of the Regents’ Center for Early Developmental Education and the Center for Early Education in STEM at the University of Northern Iowa. A veteran 1st-grade teacher, Van Meeteren developed early childhood STEM curricula that integrated literacy and assisted Dr. Rheta DeVries in research by translating the theory of cognitive development into classroom practice. Van Meeteren’s own research emphasis is on early engineering within STEM and she has given numerous state, national, and international presentations and keynotes on early childhood STEM. She has published articles and is working on other book chapters on early STEM education.
