Barbara A. Bradley, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching at the University of Kansas (KU). She is a former preschool teacher, working with students with special needs for 14 years. She has spent the past 10 years teaching preservice and inservice teachers at the university level to prepare them to teach reading across the lifespan. Bradley specializes in early literacy and design research methods. She has conducted research funded by both external and internal grants on early literacy and beginning reading, the use of design research to investigate instructional coaching, and the use of technology to support instructional practices and student learning. She has published extensively on these topics and is well respected in the field. Bradley received her PhD from the University of Georgia in reading education, her master’s degree from Adelphi University in physical education, and her two bachelor’s degrees from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in biology and psychology.
