Arthur Levine is president of the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation and president emeritus of Teachers College, Columbia University. He previously served as chair of the higher education program, chair of the Institute for Educational Management, and senior lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Dr. Levine is the author or co-author of numerous books, articles, and reviews on American education, including a series of noted reports for the Education Schools Project on the preparation of school leaders, teachers, and education researchers. Much of his research and writing in recent years has focused on increasing access to higher education and improving equity in schools. He has received numerous honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Carnegie Fellowship, as well as the American Council on Education’s Book of the Year award, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
