Antoni Verger is associate professor at the Department of Sociology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. A former post-doctoral fellow at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (University of Amsterdam), Dr Verger’s research has specialised in the study of the relationship between global governance institutions and education policy, with a focus on the dis¬semination, enactment and effects of education privatization, public–private partnerships and quasi-market policies in education. Currently, he coordinates two European research projects related to these matters: “Public-Private Partnerships in Educational Governance” (Marie Curie Grant, 2013-2016) and "Reforming Schools Globally: A Multi-Scalar Analysis of Autonomy and Accountability Policies in the Education Sector" (ERC StG 2016-2021).
