The first edition of Amplifying the Curriculum (Teachers College Press, 2019) quickly became a bestseller by offering an ambitious model for educators to design tasks, lessons, and units of study that invite English Learners and other students in need of language and literacy support to engage in meaningful and intellectually engaging learning.
Now expanded and revised to include four entirely new chapters, the thoroughly updated second edition brings the model into the present to continue to support K–12 educators in designing high-quality, challenging, and supportive learning opportunities for multilingual learners.
Join editors Aída Walqui, George C. Bunch, and Peggy Mueller for a free webinar that looks at the book's key contributions and explores the central argument that instruction should amplify—rather than simplify—expectations, concepts, texts, and learning tasks. The editors will be joined in conversation by moderator Magaly Lavadenz, Leavey Presidential Chair in Ethics and Moral Leadership and founding Executive Director of the Center for Equity for English Learners and Co-Director of Bilingual/Bicultural Education in the School of Education at Loyola Marymount University.
This webinar is for teacher educators, elementary and secondary teachers (PK–12), curriculum coordinators, professional developers, school administrators, scholars, researchers, and all others who work with multilingual learners.
The second edition of Amplifying the Curriculum is published by Teachers College Press in association with WestEd. This webinar is sponsored by Teachers College Press and WestEd.
