Alan Dichter is a former New York City teacher, principal, director of leadership and new school development, and local instructional superintendent. He helped create and oversee New York’s Executive Leadership Academy, a program designed to help leaders develop and incorporate facilitative leadership practices. He is author of a number of articles on leadership and professional development and has consulted widely on issues related to top urban school reform. He has also worked as a coach/facilitator for the New York City Leadership Academy and most recently as director of leadership development for Portland, Oregon, public schools. He is the coauthor of Going Online with Protocols. He now does independent consulting and lives with his wife, Vivian, and sons, Ben and Jacob, back in New York City.
