The series foci are on high-leverage practices that range across myriad topics and practices, including—but not limited to—theory into practice; applications of pedagogy; strategies to shift mindsets, beliefs, attitudes, and practices; policy analysis and pragmatics for change; and how youth are generating change and shifting landscapes. Unique to this series is how the research remains in an on-going and distinct state of conversation with students’ voices and actions, which both teach and mediate how key school stakeholders can leverage literacy practices of these students and put into practice these illuminations.

sj Miller, Ph.D., a trans* + disciplinary award-winning teacher, writer, activist, and scholar, is Associate Professor of Teacher Education in the Teacher Academy at Santa Fe Community College. sj is a literacy specialist whose emphasis is on social justice and gender identity in pre-K through university level teaching. sj has written over 25 book chapters, over 50 articles, eight books, and several more forthcoming. Teaching, Affirming, and Recognizing Trans and Gender Creative Youth: A Queer Literacy Framework was awarded the 2017 AERA Exemplary Research Award for Outstanding Book and the 2018 Outstanding Book by the Michigan Council of Teachers of English; it is also available in Spanish through UNESCO.
